Towards the end of the coacktail party guests noticed activity on the lawn outside the Darlington Centre at Sydney University as two new Sykes pairs in protective wrapping appeared on trestles. SUWRC President , Jane Spring, announced that the boats would be named after popular Coach AB, Alan Bennet and his vivacious partner and fellow coach, Lizzi Chapman.
Lizzi and AB seemed totally ‘surprised” so it seemed that the President had kept her secret well. Both Lizzi and AB opened the champagne and did the honours, wishing sucess and good fortune to those who rowed in their namesakes.
