School Winter Rowing Program

SUBC welcomes school and junior rowers members to join us over the winter period for our Winter Program 2021. SUBC prides itself on inviting young rowers to join and developing them ahead of their return to school for the 2021/22 season, without impacting on their commitment to school rowing once they return.

In 2021 SUBC once again won the overall point score at the NSW State Championships. This demonstrates the commitment to boating a balanced representation across multiple boat classes between heavyweight and lightweight men and women from U21 to Senior A. Our U21 development boats excelled and won GOLD in both the U21 Quad Sculls as well as SILVER in the Women’s U21 Eight and 4th in the respective men’s event. SUBC also won both the men’s and women’s elite 8’s showing that the high performance pathway goes all the way through!

Whilst SUBC excels in developing U21 athletes, it also develops U23 and Senior rowers into the National Training Centre with Olympic Coach Don McLachlan. Rowers such as Tara Rigney and Will O’Shannasey have worked their way through Winter Programs such as this, all the way to having the opportunity to trial for the Olympics in 2021.
