New Boatshed Construction Well Advanced

The new SUBC Boatshed in Burns Bay on the Lane Cove River is now well advanced in construction. The second floor is being prepared for pouring and the main main lowr deck and walls for the storage bays are complete. The three boat bays on the eastern side looking north from the main apron Boat Bay No 4 on the land side looking into park area Bay no 3 giving an idea of internal size – bay approx 7+ metres wide and 4.1 metre high clearance.

The boatshed rests on 36 piles driven and/or drilled into Burns Bay – the lower floor contains 4 boats storage bays of slightly differing sizes – average is 7 meters x 25 + meters and 4.1 metres high. To the south of the bays there is a large apron for boat rigging / washing and from this a walkway will lead down to a double sided pontoon running north south.

The upper flow will have two wings – on the northern side will be men’s and women’s change rooms and showers and on the southern side will be coach’s office , storeroom, kitchen and two multipurpose rooms. Between these two wings will be open deck which will also run across the building on the upper level on the eastern side.

The boatshed is due for completion in November 2016
