Greg Harris – New Role At WA Rugby

Greg Harris, former Executive Director of SU Sport 1992 to 2008 has today been appointed CEO of WA Rugby and Western Force. Greg, who was instrumental in raising the performance of Sydney Uni Sport dramatically during his tenure, will bring the skills and passion he demonstrated at SU Sport to the further development of rugby in Western Australia.

As a sportsman he excelled in three codes in Sydney, rugby, rugby league and AFL – and played for nearly twenty years, all at first grade level. As an administrator Greg’s knowledge of sport, his contacts and his keen insights into how to achieve success coupled with an ability to maintain many frienships and relationships have helped him achieve success on an ongoing basis.

While he will be missed from SU Sport this new role brings Greg into a sport which he knows well and loves passionately. There is no doubt WA Rugby have chosen an outstanding candidate to lead their organisation.

Recently Sydney Uni Boat Club alumni held a lunch at the Union Club to farewell Greg. Greg was thanked for his particular contribution to rowing which has included his support of professional full-time coaching, his role in creating our elite development program and his support for the re-building of the Lane Cove boatshed.

2008 Beijing Olympic cox Marty Rabjohns travelled from Canberra for the lunch. ” I am grateful to Greg and to SU Sport for the support I’ve had both as SUBC Coach, in getting my Masters and during my campaign to become cox of the Men’s Olympic for Beijing 2008. I wanted to thank Greg especially and wanted to make the effort to be there for his farewell from the Boat Club.”
