Australian Boat Race Chart New Course in 2013


Melbourne University has confirmed a new course for the 2013 Australian Boat Race. This year’s match race between Sydney and Melbourne universities will be held on Sunday morning 27th October. In 2011 the course ran from just west of Bolte Bridge to Melbourne University Boatshed. The 2013 course will start to the east and come downstream.

The course begins in Toorak and the crews will race into the city finishing at Southbank Footbridge.

The course will pass under seven bridges starting with the Church St brdge in Toorak just after the start.

Crews will pass a number of landmarks including AAMI Stadium, the MCG, Federation Square, Boathouse Drive, Flinders St Station, Federation Square. The course length is 4.7 km.

Sydney crews will arrive in Melbourne on 24th October and spend three days getting familiarized with the course and its bend.

Racing is tentatively scheduled for 9.30 am and 10.30 am followed by a lunch for all the crews, parents, alumni and suppporters.
