SUBC and SUWRC have selected their teams for the University Rowing Championships 2005 to be held at Hinze dam as part of the 2005 Summer Games. The SUBC Men’s Eights will be defending the Oxford and Cambridge Cup won at Lake Barrington in 2004 and for the first time since 1961 we have a realistic chance of making it two in a row in this event. Returning from last year’s winning eight will be Francis Hegerty, Andrew Wilson, Fergus Pragnell,Pat Wilson, and Chris Clyne with new talents including Will Chambers and Terrence Alfred. Add to this group Canadian silver medallist from Athens in the Men’s Coxless Four, Tom Herschmiller and we have a formidable crew blend of experience and achievement. This year we can expect another strong performance from Adelaide. In 2004 their young giants showed great form and will be better in 2005.
Sydney University will contest all events in both men and women with the hope of getting back the overall trophy won in 2001-2-3 and lost to arch-rivals Melbourne in 2005.
