Sydney Uni rowers again dominated the 2009 Head of the Parramata held last Saturday 7th Nov. With their top men training at the AIS or interstate the second eight group , stroked by Terrence Alfred recorded a 42 second win over the Sydney crew and came in 37 seconds ahead of the Grammar eight (the leading school crew).
Our Women’s Eight completed the double soon after winning by 2 mins 20 secs from Leichardt and 2 mins ahead of the leading school crews of Queenwood and Plymble.
In the Men’s U19/21 Quad it was much closer with the young SUBC combination of hamish Playfair, Ryan Barraclough, Michael Chapman and DJ Deutch finishing the course in 15.57 about 31 seconds ahead of the Mosman crew.
The SUBC men’s lightweight four of Toby Ledgerwood, Ed de Carvalho, Charles Budd and Ed White took out their event just 15 seconds ahead of the Mosamn four.
A large number of rowers from these crews will make up parts for the two Men’s eights and the Women’s eights that Sydney Uni will send to Melbourne on 27th Nov to contest the Head of the Yarra Open events with the objective of winning and defeating arch-rivals Melbourne University.
