The Annual Sports Awards Dinner was held in McLaurin Hall at the university last week.
Each year the major awards are Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.
For 2022 The Sportswoman of The Year was Tara Rigney. During 2022 Tara proved her worth in the single scull winning a bronze medal at World Cup 2 and a silver medal at World Cup 3/ She followed this up with a bronze medal at the 2022 World Rowing in Racice, Czech Republic.
Tara was also part of the 2022 winning Sydney University crew in the Australian Boat Race.
The Sportsman of the Year also went to rowers. The award was won by Jackson Kench and Will O’Shannessy. Jackson and Will rowed stroke and seven in the 2022 Australian Men’s Eight. The crew won silver medals at World Cups 2 and 3 and a bronze medal at the 2022 World Rowing Championships.
Jackson and Will also rowed in the winning men’s eight for Sydney University in the 2022 Australian Boat Race.
