Jane Spring Elected To University Senate

The polls closed earlier this month in an election for five alumni representatives to serve on the Senate of the University from 2009 to 2013. Jane Spring, President of our Women’s Rowing Club and an Honorary Fellow of the University stood with a long list of other candidates for one of these positions.

Early this week the returning officer announced that Jane was one of the five candidates elected.

Jane’s election follows a lifetime of dedication to and interest in Sydney University. She has served as President of SUWRC for over 20 years and was instrumental in convincing the Sports Assocaition (backed by the university) to buy the current Glebe boatshed.

Jane will bring a voice to the Senate that supports the broadest possible experiences for Sydney University students. Those experiences naturally include the sporting experience – of which Jane has been a part from her student days.

Jane campaigned hard and effectively and through her wide network was able muster the support necessary for election.

We would like to thank all those in the rowing alumni who responded to our emails asking for support for Jane.
