Gold Rush As Sydney Uni Tops Gold Medal Table At Rowing Nationals

Day 6 – the second day of finals at the 2010 National Rowing Championships saw Sydney Uni grab 10 gold medals to move to the top of the medal tally. With another gold on Sunday (Day 7) Sydney Uni finished with 16 gold, (one ahead of arch-rivals Melbourne University) 8 silver and 9 bronze. Outstanding competitors for Sydney Uni were:

Sally Kehoe : fought back after losing the NSW singles title on the line to dominate women’s sculling at the nationals winning the single, double and quad events: Sasha Belonogoff – four gold – 3 in U23 – single, double and eight plus his first open class gold in the Men’s Quad: Nick Purnell his first open class gold in the Men’s Coxless Four,a bronze in the Open Men’s Pairs a gold in the U23 eight and the biggest prize in men’s rowing – the Kings Cup in the interstate eights.
