OLYMPIC TRIALS BEGIN TODAY – 13 SYDNEY UNI ROWERS CALLED UP
23 ROWERS IN TOTAL AT OLYMPIC, AUSTRALIA A and U23 TRIALS
National selection trials start today for the 2024 Paris Olympic Rowing Team. Thirteen SUBC athletes will be involved in the Olympic trials.
Men’s sweep candidates are led by Jack Hargreaves and Joe O’Brien (Georgie who recently won the pair, four and eight at the NSW Rowing Championships) . They are joined by Tokyo gold medalist Alex Purnell and 2022 World Championships bronze medalists Will O’Shannessy and Jackson Kench.
In Women’s Sweep Eleanor Price and Georgie Gleeson will try for a spot in the women’s eight, four and pair.
Tara Rigney - Olympic Selection Triallist 2024
Sculling candidates on the men’s side are David Bartholot, Campbell Watts and Marcus Della Marta. The men’s sculling boats still need to qualify for Paris through the 2024 International Selection Regatta.
Tara Rigney, twice World Championship bronze medalist will be trialling for selection in the single scull along with scullers Kate Rowan and Rowena Meredith who will look for selection in the sculling crew boats. Georgia Miansarow will be trailling for selection in the lightweight double scull. This boat will also need to attend the qualification regatta for Paris Olympics.
Trials will be held at the Regatta Centre Penrith for the week from this Sunday 25th February.
U23 national team trials will be held at the same time as the Olympic trials. In this category. SUBC rowers called up for this category are Zoe McKellar, Olivia Nattey, Grace Turner, Phoebe Teale and coxswain Elizabeth Bolster.

Rowing Australia are sending and Australia A Team to World Cup of Rowing I in 2024. Athletes from our club called up for trialling in this team are Emily Sheppard, Taylor Caudle, Devlin Walsh and Marcus Britt.
The club also acknowledges Hamish Danks who has missed a selection call up for U23 sculling trials due to injury.
