The Australians won eight of the nine heats they contested. In the blue ribbon event, the men’s eight, the Australians recorded the fastest of the heats and will start as favourites for today’s final.
The other heat winners were the womens pair, four, heavyweight double scull and lightweight double scull.
Winning men’s crews were the quad scull and the lightweight pair and four.
Australia has a total of nine crews through to the finals with a further three to race semi finals in an effort to qualify for the finals.
RESULTS OF FINALS:
Nick Hudson in the Men’s U/23 Coxless Quad, won Gold convincingly by over 1.5 boat lengths.
Francis, Matt, Tim and Mike won a bronze medal in the Men’s U/23 Coxless Eight. Canada took out the event for the second year in a row in a time of 5:42.26, France came in second +2.15 and our guys finishing third +4.63.
