Fresh from the National Championships in Tasmania, a squad of 8 SUBC women’s masters athletes competed in the NSW Masters Championships at SIRC over the weekend of 26-27 May. They competed in 8 events, yielding a medal tally of 1 first, 4 seconds and 3 thirds.

No resting on their laurels for this group through the winter though. Jo Pollett, Kerrie Bigsworth, Ruth Thompson and Mary Boland are now training in a composite WG8+ to compete at Henley Masters in England on 13-14 July and Gillian O’Malley, Steph O’Malley, and Jo Pollett are also training for a composite WF8+ to race the Head of the Charles in Boston in October this year.

With MLC School and SU Canoe club, the masters’ squad held an open day at the Glebe shed on Sunday 24th June, welcoming newcomers, MLC parents, and some Sydney sun.
