With his father George and mother Tina in attendance , SUBC National U23 World rep and 2006 Silver Medallist in the Coxed Four, Chris Clyne accepted his Sydney University Blue. At the end of the evening Vice Chancellor Gavin Brown announced Chris as the 2006 Sydney University Male ” Blue of the Year” following his good result in the U23 World Coxed Four Championship.
Chris is graduating this year in Arts/Law and his win this year and his silver medal was achieved despite some setbacks when his pair partner at the National Championships withdrew with injury on the morning of the selection section of the regatta.
Chris subsequently gained selection at the 2nd selction regatta through initial scull racing and then a ” speed order” trial in the selector’s preferred boat. Chris rowed with SUBC’s Fergus Pragnell in this crew and two young oarsmen from South Australia. The crew was coached by former SUBC Coach, Andrew Randell.
