The Board of Sydney University Boat Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Laryssa Biesenthal as our new Senior Coach.
Laryssa represented Canada in rowing for six years consistently winning medals on the world stage including winning bronze medals at the Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000) Olympics in the quad and eight. Laryssa has coached at the international level for over twenty years at numerous World Championships, 3 Olympic Games, including having coached at the AIS in Canberra for a quadrennial prior to the London Olympics where she coached the Australian women’s lightweight double.
In recent years Laryssa has been head coach of Brentwood School on Vancouver Island, one of Canada’s leading rowing schools. In addition, Laryssa works as a World Rowing Development Coach with rowers in Asia and Oceania
Laryssa is an accredited Level 4 Coach and holds a Diploma in High Performance and Technical Leadership. Laryssa is a highly qualified rower and coach who has a strong desire to assist athletes in achieving their rowing goals.
Sydney University Boat Club welcomes Laryssa Biesenthal to our club. Laryssa will start at SydneyUniversity at the beginning of August.
