After close to 9 years as the Sydney University Women's Head Coach, Alfie Young is departing this week to take up the position as Head Coach at Mosman Rowing Club.
Sydney Uni Boat Club would like to express our sincere thanks to Alfie for his strong contribution to success at our club over the peiod he has worked with us. Alfie's unique eye for talent and his careful and considered development plans for athletes in his program always shine through.

Alfie's planning for major events ensures that he has always produced the best crews under the available circumstances. In addition, his care in dealing with injuries has seen most people rowing in his squads over the years are able to recover and go on to success.
Alfie's women's teams have won the last three Intervarsity eights and Overall Women's Championships, helping Sydney Uni to consecutive wins at the University Games.
In The Australian Boat Race, after early domination in the Women's Race by Melbourne University, Alfie was able to turn around the fortunes of Sydney University with six wins in the last six races to 2024.
Alfie will be returning to Mosman Rowing Club - where he started coaching in Australia and where he formed a great friendship with Nick Garrett. With Alfie as Head Coach we can look forward to seeing more progress from Mosman as they push back into high-performance rowing in New South Wales and Australia.
Goodbye Alfie - thanks you from all at Sydney University Boat Club and Sydney University Sport.
