30 October – 1 November 2026, Black Mountain Peninsula, Canberra

The Golden Oar Festival transforms Black Mountain Peninsula into a lakeside celebration of sport, music, food and fun. Set on the iconic waters of Lake Burley Griffin, The Golden Oar returns in 2026 – bigger, bolder and more spectacular than ever. Elite international and Australian rowers will once again battle it out for glory and serious prize money, as Canberra’s premier regatta festival takes centre stage.

Across three action-packed days at Black Mountain Peninsula, you’ll experience the best seat in the house, with racing on the water and a vibrant festival atmosphere onshore.  Brought to you by Red Shed and Canberra Airport, with support from Rowing Australia and Rowing ACT, the Golden Oar brings together mixed crews from Australia and around the world to compete for glory and over$200,000 in prize money.

Entries include the Olympic and World Champion Sinkovic brothers from Croatia as well representatives from Serbia, Germany, Ireland, USA, GB, NZ and the Australian Rowing Team.

Racing features mixed crews in double sculls, quad sculls, and introducing this year, the mixed club eight. Racing takes place over 3 distances and categories include:

  • Open Mixed Quad Sculls

  • Under 19 Mixed Quad Sculls

  • Para PR3 Mixed Double Sculls

  • Masters Mixed Quad Sculls

  • Club Mixed Quad Sculls

  • Club Mixed Eight

This year sees the addition of an exciting new format on Friday afternoon for the Mixed Double Sculls. Crew members will be randomly assigned from entrants in the Open Quad sculls and will be competing for $40,000 in prize money over a 450m sprint course right in front of the Red Shed.

SUBC will have crews racing across several categories, and club members and friends are invited to come to Canberra to support our rowers and enjoy the festival.
