SUBC’s Alfie Young – 2017 Pathway Coach of the Year


Sydney University’s Head Women’s Coach Alfie Young was honoured at the Rowing Australia Awards Dinner on Saturday night with the Award of Pathway Coach of the Year.

At a glittering dinner attended by the Rowing Australia Board, staff , national teams and heaps of rowing devotees held in downtown Sydney Alfie was recognized for the athletes that he has developed into the National Training Centre.

At the Women’s NTC athletes like Rowena Meredith, Georgia Miansarow, Georgie Gotch and Gen Horton have all come from under age levels under Alfie’s guidance to be selected into senior ranks at the National Training Centre.

Alfie has established himself as one of the leading women’s development coaches in Australia. Only a week before the dinner he had combined with SUBC’s Debbie Fox as they coached the Sydney Uni women’s eight to their first ever win over the Melbourne University crew in The Australian Boat Race.
