Rowing after school life….

Max Garnett moved from Adelaide at the end of 2025 to begin training at SUBC and start studying at Sydney University. Below is a note about Max's progress from his mum Di Garnett

It's been a little while since we last reached out, and as Max's rowing journey continues to unfold, we wanted to reconnect and share some exciting news.

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you once again to everyone who supported Max on his previous international rowing campaign. Your encouragement, generosity, and belief in him have played an important part in helping him pursue opportunities that many young athletes only dream about.

We're thrilled to share that earlier this year Max achieved a significant milestone, winning the Under-21 Men's Pair at the Australian National Rowing Championships held at Lake Barrington in Tasmania. It was a proud moment and the culmination of countless hours of training, commitment, and determination.

Here he is pictured with his pair partner Raphael Corbett, Silver medalists Sam Basha & Finn Mitchell with their coaches Simon Huxley & Rob Black

That result has helped open the door to another incredible opportunity. In June, Max will travel to the United Kingdom to compete at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta as a member of Sydney University Boat Club's crew in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.

Henley is one of the most iconic rowing events in the world, attracting elite crews from across the globe and carrying a rich tradition that dates back to 1839. For any rower, competing at Henley is a special honour, and Max is incredibly excited to test himself against some of the best young athletes internationally.

As you can imagine, travelling, accommodation, equipment transport, and competition expenses make this an expensive undertaking. While Max continues to contribute through his own efforts, we are reaching out to those who have supported him in the past to see if you would like to be part of this next chapter of his rowing journey.

Whether through financial support, sharing words of encouragement, or simply following along, every contribution makes a meaningful difference.

We will be sharing updates from the UK throughout the campaign and would love to have you along for the ride as Max represents both his club and Australia on one of rowing's biggest stages.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and belief in Max. We are incredibly grateful and look forward to keeping you updated.
