SUBC has an incredible Learn to Row program where we recruit athletes each year during Welcome Week at Sydney University. The program goes on during the winter with the goal of becoming competitive rowers by the summer. This program sometimes includes an overseas racing trip to countries like Korea and China for the programs top athletes.

Many athletes from prior years learn to row programs have gone on to make the A-final of National Championship events and compete in highly competitive fields. Some of those who stuck with it for a few more years after that have found themselves representing Australia.

When do we run the program?

Recruitment for the learn to row program typically starts in February with the program running for 8 weeks beginning in March and runs through until the beginning of May. After this athletes can continue to row at the club and begin competing for SUBC, along with further training as part of the development group.
